‘Developing confident disciples, meeting community needs’
is a clear statement encapsulating the mission policy and aim of Sheffield South
Methodist Circuit. We aim to grow and develop as confident disciples of Jesus Christ and
to journey with Christ beyond our church buildings into our communities. We go, bearing
good news and in faltering steps, attempting to be ‘Christ bearers,’ carrying the love and
compassion of our Father in heaven to others in word and action.
To assist the people and churches of the Sheffield South Methodist Circuit in our mission
the circuit mission group seeks to:

Recognise and celebrate the many ways in which our mission is expressed
in all of its many and varied forms.

Encourage our people and churches to grow in their discipleship and to
proclaim Jesus Christ in all we say and do, remembering the words of
St Francis of Assisi: “Preach the Gospel always. If necessary use words.”

Assist individuals, groups and churches to Explore ways in which we can be ‘Christ-bearers’ and meet the needs of the community around us as we proclaim good news.

We will try to Enable our people and churches in their mission.

We will seek to be a group that is Resource aware to better enable our mission.

We will seek to communicate clearly and make available news and information that will assist us in recognising, encouraging, exploring, enabling and resourcing our mission.

We will commit ourselves to, and encourage others to, pray for the work of the circuit, it’s churches and people as, together, we bear Jesus Christ to all in both word and action.
